Had a great time at the motel and restaurant. Motel: The people running the restaurant were super friendly and attentive. I could not have felt more welcomed. Restaurant: The service and food were equally awesome! Again, really friendly and attentive service. The food was straight up simple and good. I'll be staying at the motel/eating at the restaurant again the next time I'm through the area.

I am sitting in the restaurant right now and the food is terrible. The meat is dried out in the burger. The chicken Caesar salad looks like, and has the texture of, plastic. They put a pickle and a couple pieces of tomato on the Caesar salad. In all my years this is a first. The servers are talking about worms for some reason, which is not appetizing. They are also gossiping about something and complaining loudly about what sounds like a coworker. The bathroom smells atrocious. Like a mix between a brewery in the middle of production and rotten eggs. Yeast and sulfur. I will never go here again.

I leave one star cause I need this 4 star average to be adjusted quickly. This place is not good. The tap water tastes like water from the mop bucket. The coffee flavorless. The bacon was inedible. The "Honey Biscuit with Butter" was CLEARLY microwaved, and the butter was some oily butter alternative. The taxidermy hanging all over the restaurant is funny at first, but it quickly became daunting. Hanging so close over your head that you can't focus on anything but these sad beasts and the shitty food you're eating. I would have been totally down if they were serving some kind of elk & eggs. But the whole thing is just off, useless, there are plenty of places within two blocks that have GREAT food. Do yourself a favor.

Great old fashioned cafe with delicious food and great service. This is clearly where the locals eat, where the waitress greeted folks by name and asked how they were doing. The food arrived hot, perfectly cooked and portioned large. The hamburger is just like Mom made back in the good old days, with a large side of fries. Their new breakfast burrito is dang good, stuffed eggs, sausage, hash browns and topped with a big dollop of sour cream and salsa. Definitely zip off the freeway for breakfast, lunch or dinner here. And they have a salad bar and buffet to boot.

This is an awesome place. The waitresses are pleasant and efficient. I would highly recommend. Personally the other restraunts in the area should be taking field trips here to learn about hospitality! OH, the food was great too!

So it was time for a stop on my epic move to Portland and so I ended up in Baker City at the Oregon Trail restaurant. You enter and there are five mounted heads looking at you. Plenty of mounted fish as well. But this is Eastern Oregon. It is what you do out here. My waitress said there's only mining and fishing out here. There is a display case of various pies beckoning you to eat them. That is, if you have room for them after you eat. There was a turkey melt lunch special with soup or salad and that is what I went with. Turkey and swiss between sour dough bread grilled to golden perfection. As for the salad bar? Run of the mill. Blah. But it filled me up and I even had a little room for one of those desserts. A nice big hunk of warm pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. It was really, really good. If you are passing through that area of eastern Oregon, this is a pretty good stop for one to make. Enjoy.

This wasn't our first choice when we pulled into town, but we ended up here because a few other places were closed. So, cheers to a happy accident! These guys have service down to a science. Biscuits and gravy were like grandmas (shh don't tell her), and buckwheat pancakes were filling and delicious. Only thing missing was real maple syrup, but I could say that about most places.

By golly, I do believe we have found our new go-to breakfast spot in Baker! Slightly off the beaten path of the 'main' roads in town, this hidden gem is truly home cooked country goodness. Everything we ordered, from my French toast to my boyfriends chicken fried steak was perfect. My boyfriend even said the biscuits and gravy were the best he's had outside of Texas! Only thing I could have possibly changed just a bit was the coffee, as I prefer a slightly stronger brew. But, I'm not complaining that hard because the average age of patrons is on the slightly more senior side. Bonus: The prices are the best we've run into yet!

Was just about out of gas heading westbound I84 in a snow storm. Rolled past and had to stop. Best Breakfast of Smoked chops, eggs, hash browns, and English muffin EVER! Even the Coffee is wonderful! Thank you!

This is your typical hometown restaurant. The servers were friendly and seemed to know everyone. They serve all three meals all day and have pie and milkshakes as well. The price is right and the portions are generous but not huge. Overall a great little find.

After camping for 3 days stopping by and getting treated like a star by friendly staff was refreshing. Buffet was perfect to fit all taste preferences and needed that salad! When we are back in town we will be back my son wants to try that Dave burger.

What a charming, "aw shucks" kind of place! I had a classic bacon, eggs, biscuit and hash browns breakfast and it was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. The place is full of regulars, who get the special treatment, which adds to the cozy atmosphere. A former local has his books for sale, and there's on at every table for light reading. I recommend stopping here if you're in the area.

We were running low on gas and decided to stop. Saw the restaurant and decided to have breakfast. There was only one waitress and the diner was packed with people. She came to greet us and explain that there were other tables in front of us and that she would be right with us. It took a while to take our order but when we got the food it was delicious! A really good family business that stays true to home cooking. If you're not in a hurry that is. Oh, read the books, they're funny.

Yes and yes! Just what you want in a diner! Waitresses are awesome, quick, friendly and your coffee cup is always full! Came here for breakfast on our roadtrip, it was the only town with anything in it! Glad we stopped! Had the banana nut pancakes. Very filling! And German sausage, which was amazing. I highly recommend ordering the sausage!

The motel is nothing super special. It's a bit off the beaten path in Baker. It's a bit old and beat up HOWEVER, the people who work there are super nice. It's got wi-fi and good rooms for some longer term stays with multiple people. (That's you work crews). They give a commercial rate if you're in town for business. The true jewel of the motel is the breakfast you get. It's not some sad doughnuts wrapped in plastic, it's an actual breakfast at the attached restaurant. The food is diner-ish but it's prepared well. The bacon is Awesome!! If you're in Baker and looking for a place to stay I recommend driving right on past the chain motels and over to Bridge Street to find the Oregon Trail Motel and Restaurant. I stay here every time I'm in Baker and that's 4-8 times a year.

It's a good spot to eat, even if it's a couple of miles off the interstate. Good fries.

Cat was an awesome server! Food was excellent and fairly priced! We had fun. Thanks for starting our day off right.

While walking around downtown, we stopped in a local antique store and asked the owner for a good place to have breakfast. She immediately pointed out the Oregon Trail Restaurant...she said 'it's homey food.' First, the prices were extremely reasonable. The waitresses were fun. The house-made corned beef hash was worthy of a 100-mile detour with just the right amount of herbs and spices. We'll be going back again our next time through Baker City.

Check in was prompt and friendly, they have a giant iguana on display and a cute little yorky as a greeter. The motel is old, however the rooms are very clean and kept in decent condition, the room I got had a new bed and was very comfy. The electric baseboard heat did not work very well. They provide you with a FULL bacon/egg/hashbrown breakfast with your stay at the restaurant next door and they dont skimp on the food. They do charge $10 for pets, but in total with my dog and free breakfast it was about $48. Good place to stop when passing through.

We stopped at this restaurant for breakfast on a road trip. It was worth the drive in from the freeway. It was old school Americana, in a good way. The waitresses were sassy and good. The food was great and cooked the way we requested. We were checked on frequently and the bill was a bargain.
